I Wouldn't Normally WIN Fame

Russell Quinn, Adam Quinn and Shawn Mc Cauley are the boys behind tomorrow nights local Bodyboard premier at Huskisson Cinema. After a big fortnight of media promotion, making the pages of the South Coast Register and a cool minute or so of air time on WIN news. Huskisson won't know what hit it tomorrow night as the sell out crowed are flocking to see the flick. If you haven't purchased a ticket by now then there is a good chance your going to be out of luck or you better hurry up. Rumor has it that there are already tickets on ebay selling for in excess of 80 bucks each.

Morrellis Wines

All though you may think why would i post a blog that has nothing to do with photography, waves or some sort of visual art. I have a strong passion for people who are getting out their and creating opportunities for themselves and in my eyes this is one amazing form of artistic expertise.

Wine connoisseurs Chris Morris and Issac Ellis, have worked more hours in the past year than most third world employees at an asian sweat shop would in a life time. These boys not only worked their 9-5 day jobs but on the side took control of an old run down vineyard based at the foot hills of berry to produce the south coasts latest wine. Both Issac and Chris are extremely passionate and proud wine producers. Their latest creation 'South Coast Classic' is made from Chambourcin grapes, which is a variety well suited to the climate of the region. The medium bodied wine exhibits dark cherry, plum and vanilla flavours with yet a spicy smooth finish. They also have a 'Rose' made from Chambourcin and Merlot grapes, which exhibits youthful strawberry and cherry flavours with a refreshing yet complex finish. A white wine is soon to be bottled in the next few weeks and once that is complete the cellar doors will be open for the public. I have been lucky enough to snag myself a few bottles of the 'South Coast Classic' and 'Rose' which have been going down a treat in front of the wood fire of an evening! Keep an eye out for these guys in the future and stay posted for the cellar door grand opening! If your interested in indulging in a few bottles fill free to contact me and i can forward you on to the boys.

From the creator of DLUX, Phil Gallagher has now aimed to created a photo annual style magazine filled with photographs of the people, the places and of course the action surrounding bodyboarding. The first issue will be 104 page issue and hopefully published and printed by the 1st of September for public purchase. The magazine will only be available for purchase online at www.leboogie.com  I'm proud to say that i have helped to contribute to this master piece, one sequnce you will see in the clip below.

Take a seat

Introducing Renee Osterloh, YES it is my sister! Recently graduating from a four year Industrial Design degree at the University of Canberra. Renee won multiple awards for her major design projects. One major piece was the cool concept of a stool made out of plastic. After spending a few weeks on the road towards the end of last year doing exhibitions in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra. A company has now jumped at the idea and is producing samples of Renee's stools.

Renee, along with other successful graduates will be taking over the gallery at Craft ACT in three weeks as they showcase their work. The exhibition " Epidemic" is based on work of graduates whom have broken out and started to craft and design a career in the arts!

Holga 120 CFN

Took the Holga out for a play to enjoy the multiple exposures, the choice of red blue yellow and white flash and the saturation of film

Chiropractor

Feeling a little dusty today, not only did i wake up on the floor of a friends apartment to one crazy man taking snoring to a new level but i also downed a few to many schooners of Old last night with the Wollongong fellas. Evoke the stoke premier was the occasion and it dragged a few spooks out of the closet. Griz n Max ventured from the northern beaches to take part in the celebrations. The usually motley crew; corps, bass, bones, koots, bee hive, tomkins, dicko, dobo...etc did their fair share of drinking!

Last thing i remember was Dobo counting his pineapples on the lounge room coffee table, pretty sure he drained the glasshouse pokies dry! Last i heard he was making a chiropractor appointment after the 7ft man woke up in an awkward state on the worlds smallest two seater couch!

Ill Brigade

If you have listened to short fast loud on triple J over the past eight months then you may have heard of my good mates at Ill Brigade. They've started turning a few heads with their amazing old school hardcore music! I was lucky enough to jump back stage and shoot some pics awhile back when they played with Gorilla Biscuits in sydney. If your in Wollongong on friday (31st july) then wander down to the Oxford for a beer, where you'll find them backing Toe to Toe.

Fishing

As a young whipper snapper, fishing meant the world to me. I was lucky enough to grow up a stones throw from the ocean. So as my parents built their house, i was hooked on fishing. From the ages of  6 till my early teens fishing was a good part of my life, and still is to this day. Last night i went to dig up some old photos and came across this little beauty above. I was in my late teens at uni and remember it quiet clearly. I'd wandered down to the local marina with camera around my neck and fishing rod in hand. After 15mins or so of flicking the lure about fruitlessly one of my mates saw me and came over asking for a couple of casts. Without hesitation i hand him the rod and thought well this could be a chance to take some photos while i'm here. As i turned to walk away my friend swung the rod back hooking the lure straight through the top of my ear! The only subject shot that day was myself, and for  the following few months i had a nice new ear piercing to show for it.

Polaroids

One thing i have always loved doing its sitting down to watch a Polaroid slowly process in front of me. You just never know how the final product will shape up! For all those keen photographers specially the ones that are growing up in a digital age, go out n dig your self up a polaroid. i bought my 1st one off ebay about 7yrs ago and have picked the odd one up from Op shops since. I'll try and dig out a few photos in my archive for display in the near future :)

Taking grandma to the RSL

Taking my Grandma out to the RSL for dinner tonight, good chance she'll order the fish n vegs combo and wash it down with a crisp house chardy, no doubt i'll try n be tough with a rump steak n veg platter! Not a big fan of the Mac photo booth, bit too mainstream for my cool self but it is always good to get the giggles going! heres one of my 88yr grandma a while back, Anyone that has met my Grandma would have to agree the she is the most amazing little irish leprechaun you've ever meet but the picture just doesn't quite do it justice...

Camera phones

I now have a little more appreciation for my phone since i discovered i can quiet easily download my photos on to my mac! Some times i can't have my camera on me at all times so i use my phone... Its not fantastic but its better than nothing!

I shot this photo on a recent trip to Tasmania. I was lucky enough to be hooked up with a free day trip on a cruise boat (peppermint bay cruises). They gave us 30mins to wonder around Bruny Island for a lunch break.

Bali 09

Alex Bunting: Third world valium induced ferry ride (IAMNONE bali 08 movement mag trip)

Its a sad state of affairs for me at the moment as I'm uncertain whether i'll make the journey to bali this year! I'm throwing up between a month in warmer climates or a camera bag equipped with new lenses... so i thought i'd throw a photo of last years trip up just to keep me pondering!

HEY YOU SAY CHEESE

The internet is a funny place, Its amazing how lost you can get in only a few minutes of bouncing from link to link! I don't really know how i managed to reach this web page, but the interesting thing is after a little bit of browsing i soon found out that i would have landed on it soon or later, whether it be from bouncing around various links or whether it had been in the next few days once i'd manage to scan through more of the latest monster children (photo Issue) thats sitting next to me.

Sophie Lord is to blame for stealing a good hour of my life! i couldn't leave her page at "killallartisits.com.au" (you will find her link below). She has some great creativity, and strives off Polariod cameras! She is more known for a really cool concept of purchasing countless amounts of disposable film cameras and placing them in weird n wonderful public places, for any passerby to pick up and go photo crazy! Once the passerby has finished clicking away they then replace the camera back to its original home, only to eventually be retrieved by Sophie whom process the film n drools over the wonderfully varied photos!

You want to know what the craziest thing about all this is! when i landed on her site I found out that she'd left one of her recent cameras 200m from my house!

Vino and Goldfish

A few of the fellas made the journey to wollongong on thurs nyt for a friends birthday party. The vino was flowing, jeans were tight and the leather was midnight black! The birthday cake didn't quiet hit the spot for damo, who managed to fish out the house pet from its tank and downed it in one almighty gulp!..Yep thats right damo ate the pet goldfish alive, no chewing just with a chaser of Corona!  As things got fishy it was time to evacuate and things spilled over to the Illawarra for some crazy retro dance moves! Adam quinn was in fine form, spent most the night with his creepy eyes on and sending bulk msg's containing his myspace URL.

This morning it was my turn to face the fickle southerly winter swells. With pipe holding a few 3-4ft onshore sets late yesterday afternoon, i could have sworn this morning was going to be a sure bet! waking at 6am for the dawn patrol only to be greeted with freezing air temps and 1-2ft of wind swell, caught 3 waves and went back to bed!

Salt

If you're a lover of salt and you haven't been pitted over the last 2 days then you really need to reassess your current life! A legendary south coast reef flared up yesterday drawing bumper crowds. Everyone a stone's throw from sydney and wollongong with more than 2 stickers on their boards battled it out in the perfect 4-6ft conditions. Koots, the only man stickerless, managed to out do the boys with some cracking caverns. It seems that 40d and 50mm are the new black! It was tough times finding a position to shoot in the channel, but fun for myself and rod owen as we managed to muscle our way in on skis.

Down time

Neon lights
Morgan Brown was in a foul mood today after he spent the majority of last night driving around Nowra in search of his brother Jacko and fellow wing man Kim Zammit after he stupidly offered to pick their stumbling bodies up at midnight! Supposedly the rendezvous point was ignored, Jacko and Zammit felt that another hour regulating Posties box and dance floor would be more rewarding! leaving a furious Morgs on the streets for and extra hour! all wasn't lost as apparently Morgs made a few quick bucks on the side doing trips from town to legends in the mean time..

The Quinns endured another taste of the current fickle winter swells. With 2.5 meters of straight east swell forecast for today! the boys missioned it south at 5:30am in hope for some south coast ledges only to be greeted with 1-2ft dribble and an 8am return to pillow pits.Fortunately for me i got an early heads up at 6am to stay asleep!

Golf
Golf has been a popular past time of the Blackrock boys! Quinns, Jordo, Smithy and Myself recently discovered that Able Seaman Jordan Dank can sign us into the restricked areas of the local Navel base, we've now been reeking havoc at Cresswell Golf Course! Not many birdies are going down but the kangaroos are dropping like flies!

RSL club
I introduced the boys to one of many perks of being a member at the local RSL club, as we played countless games of 8 ball for free to pass the current lack in waves! I'll tell you now there are no 'sharks' amongst us!

Wouldn't Normally

Rumors are true! the trio at I Wouldn't Normally (www.iwouldntnormallyblog.blogspot) have finally finished their long awaited movie, with prem dates set for 8pm on the 31st July  at husky cinemas and 50 copies of the final product going on sale at the door! Delay times were supposedly due to the lack of editing technology, uni commitments, and too many sewer swells! but the real issue was Shaun McCauley fighting the cob webs in his wallet, it took him 6 months to dig out the coin to help pay the small fortune for dvd production and cinema hire.

While we are on the topic of Mr McCauley, he is currently feeling a bit of heat from the boys in blue after pushing the odometer on his car a little too far in a last ditch effort to make it to the pub before the 11pm cut off time. He is searching ways to beat the legal system and is adamant that he's found faith in a current web site (http://www.aussiespeedingfines.com/)

Tassie invasion:
I've been consumed by tasmanians over the last 2days! Karl and his girl claire enjoy a flat day fishing in my vessel of mass destruction! clair regulated the rod pulling in half a dozen tailor while Karl was easily shown up, netting only 2! All in all it made a great feast for dinner.

Up n coming tassie photog matt tilsley turned up on the door step after spending a couple of fruitless days floating the coast with breando. Picked up matts tassie side kick charles ward from the highway this morning. Charles has been rolling with kingy n jones russel for the last couple of days reporting good virgins the other arvo!

Waves:
PLC, matty macarthur, nick perry, leuhman and brendo turned up to a dismal sight on monday.. with a normally productive right hander showing no more than the perfect time to practice your DK skills. Adam quinn took full advantage of the conditions to sculpt his skills!

Things fell in to place by the afternoon with pipe unloading some of the biggest barrels in a long time! big morgs, PLC, matty, corps made the most of the slabs while korrey smith snuck out on dark to get the best of the improving conditions!
